Default The different systems that came stock

So, my question is does anyone know the difference between the systems offered? I know one has multiple pistons per caliper, but is any one superior to the other? I believe I have ATE calipers 321x30mm rotors, and am not sure what exactly that tells me. I was told to get the code from a sticker in the service book and think (1LA) is the code. Anyways, I need to do my pads badly and want something that is an improvement over OEM, and throws off less dust. I gave the dealer the vin number and he just gave me a price on pads. He either could not, or would not tell me what kind of breaking system it was. Any help would be appreciated.
