Default do u need the air pump?

I have a 2.8 98 audi A6 quattro, and im getting the p0114 code or whatever the secondary air code is and its starting to sound like a jet on cold starts. so im looking to bypass it (dont have emmission testing in MI) anybody know if this can be done. thanks in advance oh i also did a search and couldnt find anything.

I can tell you that some folks on this forum have done so. Baskin 4.2l has communicated to me that all he did to bypass the secodary air system was to remove the pump, removed the two Kombi valves (this required that he have some custom plates in place of the kombi valves) and disconnected all electrical devices that were part of the system.

I have yet to try this, but plan on doing the same as soon as weather permits.
