I have a 1998 A6 2.8 Quattro .

Whenitis hot, the fan behind the small ventthat is located between Audio unitand AC unitturns on.

When it is cold, it seems to be stopped.

Does anyone have an idea whatthis isfor?

 

It pulls air from the cabin to a temperature sensor for the inside temperature of the car on the ac unit.

it's noisy. maybei need to clean its motor..

 

Usually you just replace them. All you have to do is pull out the radio to access it. I cant image that little motor would be that expensive.
