2000 A6 2.8 quattro. Love the car. I have one complaint. When I put the car in tiptronic and then go from a dead stop it still autoshifts 1st to 2nd @ low rpms (~2,500 RPM) unless I literally floor it. From 2nd on , it is full manual control up and down. Makes me SOOO mad.

Do you guys notice the same thing? and is there anyway to fix tiptronic (ECM upgrade) so it is truly tiptronic? When I want to merge on the highway in tiptronic and the thing autoshifts 1st to 2nd and I putt on, I want to drive it off of a cliff.

 

Audi engineers programmed the 2.7's engine management unit tolimit the power output during gear changes in order to smooth out the transition from first gear to second and so on.

 

The owners manual for my 2004 A6 2.7T says it will shift from 1st to 2nd at 3 MPH unless the accelerator is depressed
at least 80%. This is probably because 1st gear is so low.

 

Yes my 2.8 does the same. But like some already stated its just a preprogrammed thing from Audi not really sure if there is anyway around it.

 

My A6 tip quattro does it as well. I have a 2003 2.7T. I also drive an 02 Passat 2.8 tip but it holds first gear to the red line. Just the way it is.

 

Go to Autozone and program the TCU to hold first...If I remeber right, this is PF00034 or 32. Someone correct me....This problem can be alleviated.

 

They all do it, out of the factory and it is normal and CAN BE CHANGED in 5 minutes with a VAG com. code is in my sig.
Procedures are on the web on the vag ross site and on AW. Do a search. Find smoeone withVAG and they should know how to do it. literally takes 5 minutes
