My guess would be rear control arm. I looked in the bentley but that only confused me even more.

This looks similar:

You seem to have a FWD, but you didn't say which year A6 you have. So, without more information, it would be hard to give you a part number. Try www.vagcat.com to get a part number for a rear control arm.

Found this pic in my Bently...

Looks like #40, says it is a tie rod.
Hope this helps!

edit: I have nothing better to do, tried a search on google, cant find anything. No ebay, no nothing. Seems like that may be a stealer ship part if it is indeed correct.

re-edit: Looked on VAGcat, nothing listed for A6, but looked up 2000 Passat 4 motion(same suspension) and found it. Not a tie rod this time, but a stabilizer/connecting link,
part #- 8E0501530M

re-re edit: Have to look up A6/S6 quattro, comes up with same pic and same part #. 51.90 euros.

Huricane,

I do not recognize the typical Quattro rear end?

Where is the differential, drive shaft, the control arms look differently....

You will not see the tie rod due to the lack of it...

The tie rod ends should be adjustable (for alignment) - just as the front ones...

Not a tie rod, even though Bently calls it one. Look it up on vagcat, rear stabilizer/connecting link. Part # 8E0501530M.
You can see the differential(see the rusted drain plug), between the exhaust pipes, after the resonator. Half shaft is what looks flakey, with rust bubbles. Any one concour?

I have the older 1998 A6 Quattro Wagon with the C4 chassis, with different rear suspension. The only problem with www.vagcat.com is that it is for the European Audi, so some parts are different than for a USA model.
