Default Engine Coolant Light

Hello All -

I've got a 2002 A6 3.0 Quattro with 50,000 miles. Recently my engine coolant light has been coming on right after I start the car. It will usually go off after a while. As an FYI, it has gotten colder (high 20s to low 30s) at night here in the midwest.

I am as non-technical as one gets. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what the problem is?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Make sure there is enough coolant in the tank. It might be low and when it heats up it expands just enough to turn the light off.

Does it take any special coolant?

Thanks again.
