I am a new owner of a audi a6 3.0 quattro, automatic. I bought it used with 60k miles on it. I was wondering if rapid clicking sounds coming from the engine is normal. I cant hear it when inside the car but i can kinda hear out outside and can hear it loud and clear when the hood is open. Let me know if this is normal for this engine or is it something I should be worried about. Thanks

 

Kinda hard to say without hearing it. The fuel injectors click fairly loud with the engine running.

I think several of our 3.0's make the same sound. An Audi mechanic told me it was normal...although it sure doesn't sound pretty.
