Erratic ambient temp led.

Erratic ambient temp led.
I did a search but found nothing relating.....My outside air ambient temperature LED today was reading -36 F and then warmed up to -16 F. I noticed also that my AC would not go on possibly as a result of reading such a low outside temp. True outside temp was about 59F. Anyone with similar a experience and what may be wrong that causes this?

RE: Erratic ambient temp led.
The exterior temp sensor connector is either corroded or it needs a new sensor.
Its directly behind the bumper cover, you might be able to get to it by removing the lower grille on the driver's side, if not take off the bumper and clean out the connector with some electrical contact cleaner. If that doesn't fix it replace the sensor.
