Default ESP Fault on 2005 Audi A6

This is my first post in this forum, I happened to stumble across the site when I was trying to find an answer to the issue I'm having with my A6. Sorry in advance if this thread is in the wrong forum or if it's already been discussed (did a search and didn't see anything)

To the issue at hand...over the weekend I was driving out of town and I got a warning signal saying "ESP Fault see owners manual". As I was driving I would step on the gas but the car wouldnt accelerate. Pulled over turned off the car, restarted and the warning light was gone. The same thing happened to me this morning and I am going to take the car in on Friday morning to get scanned.

Is this a problem anybody esle has run into? Are the ESP Fault warnings and the car not accelerating independent isssues? Any help/advice would be much appreciated....I don't want this car to turn into a money pit on me and based of some of the threads I've read I'm not even sure whether or not I should keep the car at this point. It's an 05 A6 3.2 with 66k miles on it....I love the car but wouldnt hesitate to get rid of it if I needed to.

I am guessing coil packs. They have been redsigned and Audi replaced mine for free. I am guessing the prior owner failed to be dilligent in getting the car serviced.

Hey,

I know this is a very old post but I was wondering if you ever resolved the issue with your car and how. I've had the exact same thing happened to me a couple times and I haven't fond a solution.

I have a similar problem with a 2006 A6 3.2 Sline. When accelerating hard the ESP warning light will come on and it feels like it is running on 3 cylinders when I apply the gas pedal. if I pull over and stop engine/start engine it clears itself. Doesn't happen when driving "economically".
