Default Exiting a Lease with Positive Equity

Hi guys,

New to the forum, and I'm hoping some of you can chime in on this. I've got 3 payments left on my lease (2009 A6 Prestige), and am investigating what to do next. My plan is to get another A6, since I loved my last one - in fact it's been my favorite car I've ever had.

The residual on my car is $25,771.50, and I have 3 more payments remaining totaling $2,227.83. It's in excellent/perfect condition with no accidents or anything, brand new tires, 27K miles, and it looks like similar A6s have sold for low to mid-$30K range on Ebay.

So, can anyone help me figure out how much equity I should be looking for from any deal that I discuss with my local dealers right now? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

You have to get the payoff for your lease which you can get from audi financial. The payoff may have some early termination fees added in. Remember you don't own the car at the end as audi financial does so if the car is worth more on the market than the residual value they are the ones who benefit. The way you can benefit by trading it in early is if you get a better trade in value do to a higher market value.

I have traded in a lease early more than once and all you are really comparing is the "trade in value" versus your "payoff value".
