Faster car, Supercharged 4.2 vs S6???
Greetings ppls. I'm reading a lot of hoop-la about supercharging and I'm far from an expert on cars so I'm asking you experts on your thoughts.... Hypothetically, can a supercharged 4.2 A6 (2004 and up) beat an S6?
It's like every day a new car is coming out with 400 hp and I'm just curious how a supercharged 4.2 stands up against bigger engines?

supercharged vs V10 in pure performance #s. if you check the #s, current S6 is not that fast for such a big engine. It is very heavy too. but it'd offer a much better ride, a nd lots of V10 satisfaction, smoothness in pulling all the way thru the powerband
What about the transmission? I currently own an 04 A6 S-Line with the TT tranny. I was warned against going over 350hp because of the tranny. I wonder if the A6 4.2 would have the same "weakness" vs the S6 being designed for the power. Inevitably, I think that the tranny would suffer.
But won't a supercharger give all of those attributes to a 4.2?

There are tranny rebuilds for the C5 that offer upgraded valvebody and torque converter and can handle about as much as the RS6. Level10 and IPT offer them for a pretty penny.
Everything is relative. Those are numbers and the way the engine reacts for the powerband on higher power will be way different, even if both vehicles have the exact same dyno'd #'s. If you got a 450hp supercharged V8 is it gonna be the same as driving a 4 cylinder 28psi 1.8t pushing 450hp???? The higher displacement engine will offer a lot more reliability and smoothness, but a boosted engine will always push you back in your seat and be more exciting, boost is addicting.
