Default first audi

i hope i posted in the right areaim lookin for my first audi. there are few places round town that work on them, and what ive read of online is that they can be un-reliable. i am looking at a couple 03 a6 quattro's both with auto's nd the 3.0 v6. ive read some pretty horrific reviews of the car. lots of problems. i wanted to come here to find out more details. both the cars are between 100,000 nd 110,000 miles. is there anything that tends to go out around this milage? or could i drive them another 100k of easy driving with no problems and very little shop time? im used to late 90's chevy pickups that go forever problem free. just hopin i could get the same results as my pickup with reliablity.
on another note, if its more reliable or a better choice ive also looked at an 01 tt quattro 1.8t with 6spd manual and an 02 a4 quattro with 1.8t. all around the 100k mile mark as well. wat would be the most fun, most reliable car of those? or another car i could look for. thanks guys!

Be sure to spend some time browsing around the forums. keep in mind that a lot of the people here have searched us out specifically because they are having an issue with their car. For the most part, as with any automobile, a well maintained Audi will be a reasonably reliable ride for quite some time. Unfortunately, as with any used car, you really don't know how well maintained it has been (unless they can show records/receipts).

For the cars you have listed, all around 100K miles, the timing service with all the components should have ALREADY been done. Be sure to check for those maintenance records. It is ~$1000 job to have done at a shop and the 3.0 is the biggest PITA to do properly.

Maintenance on Audis is expensive, mainly due to labor costs and slightly higher cost of replacement parts. There are always parts bargains to be had though and if you can turn a wrench you can save yourself a good bit on labor. If you "need" to take your car to the shop to have a "professional" work on it, an older Audi is probably not for you as you will spend more in maintenance than the car is probably worth.

good luck and keep us advised
