Am I crazy or there is no way to fit a standard US Front license plate frame into the indentation of a 08 A6's front bumper.

 

get a filler plate from the dealer

 

In states requiring a front plate Audi sells a filler plate. It came with my car in NY.

 

I used a drill and made some "custom" holes in the plate.

Drilling may be ok on a 1996, but with a 2008 still under warranty I would go with a filler plate from the dealer.

I think I have the filler plate, thats the middle bar going across with the shape of the license plate indented into it right? My question is that with the filler plate, you cannot fit a license frame in there.

 

Maybe take a picture? And just going to the dealer will answer all of your questions.

 

As far as I know, the 08 a6 comes with either the Front License Plate Holder (6W3) or Front Grille Filler Panel (6W9) for states which requires the front plate and the ones that dont. I am saying that the Front License Plate Holder (6W3) cannot fit a license plate frame on it, its too narrow. Its no big deal, but I am just wondering if anyone have found a way to work around it.

 

The replacement "filler plate" I picked-up from the stealer has a license plate shaped section in the center (molded right into the piece) that appears to be the right size for a frame and plate...

I am waiting until I get hassled for it before put it on, though. Hate to mess with the great look of that grille.
