Default FUEL FILTER

where the hell is the fuel filter on my 01 a6 2.8, i looked all over for it and cant find it for nothing. theres this little box under the spare tire well with a bunch of hoses going to it but didnt want to take it apart.

idk if its the same for you but my 99 a6 its located on the passenger side along the edge of the car if you look under the car mine was located below the rear passenger door.. and was red.. i replaced it with ease! like i said it might be in the same spot but who knows how much they changed it seeing as none of the body changed in 5 years..lol

As noted, it is below the rear passenger door. With the filter you should buy 4 aluminum washers to replace the existing. 2 for inlet side are larger than 2 for outlet side. You need a triple square bit for the strap that holds the fuel filter (M10 I think, but don't quote me on this) and 17mm wrench, 19mm wrench and adjustable wrench to replace the filter. Also if you don't want the fuel spraying everywhere, use a couple of line crimpers.

hey guys i got my filter from discount auto and it didnt come with washers is there a substitute or do you got to go to the dealer and get the washers?

You can try to reuse the old ones, but I would just goto the dealer for some new washers.

the closes dealers for me are a hour north or hour south of me, do you think volkswagen would have them or some thing that would work for me
