Default Fuel Sensor Calibration - 2006 A6 4.2L

Hi Guys!

Can't seem to figure it out. I had my mechanic change both the fuel sensors inside the tank (there was bad wiring, etc.). But the gauge on the dash still does not show the correct amount, the computer that shows the remaining mileage is also off.

I understand that it needs to be calibrated. Does anyone know the procedure or the code to put in to make it work?

thanks!

If the sender where replaced then, just fill up the tank. Turn the key but don't start the car for 60 seconds. Then turn the ignition off, then start the car. Take it out for a 10 mile drive. It should calibrate it's self. That what I did when they replace mine.

I dont think they replaced the sender, just the two sensors.

The thing is that I have been driving for a while like that already. Would that procedure still work?

Thanks!

So they try to fix the fuel pump itself.
Fill the the tank up, see what happens.

I checked with my mechanic, and they did replace everything including the sender. I tried to follow that procedure of turning ignition on and not starting the engine but it did not work.

Mechanic says that there is a calibration code that needs to be entered through the computer.

What seems to be happening now is that the gauge is off by around 4-5 gallons. So is the trip computer.

That's normal, it an average. You could have the car sitting while running the air and watch it down 5 to 10 miles in 5 mins. Once you drive it, It will re-average and go up by even 15 miles or more(It's all on your driving habits).

Actually, it is not my trip computer that is off by 4-5 gallons, it is the actual needle (gauge) on the dashboard.

The trip computer is off by around 150 miles usually
