Hello all;

I've noticed that certain brands ( Exxon, Mobil, Shell, etc...) affect my car's performance differently. Just curious, which brand do most of you use ?
Also, which brand has good detergent additives for cleaning fuel injectors and such.

I heard that dealers have this additive called "Autobahn" you put in your tank at fill up. Anyone have any experience with it ?

I use Exxon mostly, and I just stay away from grocery store gas (like Wal-Mart) which tend to have high water content in their gas.

 

Thank you. That's the one I use as well. (Exxon) I've found it gives more pep to my car.

 

I put BP, better than Exxon. I have a question, in Sunacco they "94" is that bad if I put that???

 

Virtually all gasoline comes from the same refineries, regardless of brand name - the majors really don't do their own refining any more. The difference between brands has more to do with the additives (typically detergents) that each major brand specifies they want added in after refining. Chevron, for example, adds in the equivalent of its Techron, but not nearly in the concentration that you'd get if you pored a bottle of the stuff into your gas tank.

I use mobil1 I feel it makes my car go fast. also time to time I add detergent. Helps Alot, I got extra 1MPG out of it, but I lost like 20 bucks on the products. worth it, I don't think so. should you use it ye 1 a year tops in my opinion.

Chevron was my brand of choice back then. I recently switched to 76 when Conoco-Phillips took over, my A6 2.7T runs better.

 

I'm not sure what the Army base uses (that's where I get most of my gas), but I think it's either 76 or Chevron.
