While putting in gas all of the sudden gas started flowing everywhere! The seal is prob messed up that we replaced the OEM with. I am going to attack the project tomorrow and give an update.

Yeah, i would have to agree with you that the seal wasn't installed correctly.

I am experiencing this exact problem with my 2000 Audi A6 2.8. What are the chances of Audi covering a model that falls outside of the covered VIN range? Any suggestions on how to handle this would be much appreciated.

The seal on one side was loose causing the leaking problem. Also I had my tech take a look at the recall related to this thread and what do you know. It hasn't been done. Thank you again auditech79 for the most and information on the recall.

If you have the exact same problem as other cars do and you have diagnostic paperwork to prove it, you can call AOA (audi of america) and ask them why the recall is the way it is. They may cover the repair for you if you aren't satisfied how audi is handling the issue.

I have no idea, the recall might not cover your car...

Just got my recall notice in the mail this week. Sucks if it really does take a week! Also, my dealer is 30 miles away!

A good tech can drop the rear axle and tank in about 45 minutes, put it back up in another hour, then align the rear end of the vehicle. Should take a full day, but count on it taking two with other jobs ahead of you.
