I am betting that they made a mistake when they represented the content of the car to you and are now hoping that you go away. I say show up andlook at the car and drive it. If I am wrong on the options in the car, you get a great deal, if I am right, maybe the dealer knocks a couple of bucks off the price because of the mistake.

I had seen the initial cell phone pictures and can tell it has all the options and also, called Audi Customer care to verify everything via VIN no. Car looks fine...not that close to give it a test drive until they tell me its ready to go.

I guess the cell phone pictures are better than the pictures the dealer posted on its site. You would have thought the dealer would have marketed the car better by identifying the true option packages. Oh well, their loss and hopefully your gain. With all options it is a pretty good price. I am just amazed that the original owner ordered every option and opted for the 3.2 engine instead. You will enjoy the solar sunroof and the power sunshades. When operating both, the car's ventilation system continues to run when you turn the car off and it stays nice and cool even when parked in the sun. Also make sure that the dealer shows you how to get the car to recognize your key FOB so that the seat and steering column adjusts to give you some extra room when you are getting in and out andthen returns to the correct position when you start the car. Also make sure that the dealere explains to you how to create voice tags, it is a little confusing. By the way, you are also going to enjoy the adaptive cruise control. It actually makes the cruise control usable in traffic and it is very cool when it hits the brakes and slows down the car. Good luck and I hope the purchase goes through.

PS I just plugged the VIN from Riverside's site into Ebahn's website, which includes limited decoding information including airbag information, the car does not have the optional rear side airbags. It does have the standard curtain air bags. Just be careful of the dealer's claim that it includes all options.

Hey audia6s,

I can help you get some information on whether this car has ever had an insurance claim placed on it. I have access to a database that wilol tell you if there has ever been an insurance claim filed on the vehicle for any reason (i.e. collision, theft, act of god, etc.) Just post the VIN or PM it to me and I can run the check right away.

Just to give you a heads up about how much better this website is than Carfax, I've run dozens of reports for myself and friends. Carfax didn't report any damage history on over 90% of them, but NICB picked up on all but one.

You are gonna love this. The good news is that the vehicle hasno damage history. It was shipped from Audi on 9/19/05 to dealer # 408A18 (don't have any way of decoding which dealer it is). But the vehicle was sold to an owner in New York.

Now for the interesting part... The vehicle was impounded/seized by NYC Sheriff Marshals Program for nonpayment of parking tickets in 6/27/07!! So it may be that they seized the vehicle and retitled it to sell it at auction. At any rate, there doesn't appear to be any damage history to the vehicle.

If the prior owner failed to pay for parking tickets, I wonder how he came up with the money for "all options". The dealer's story to our fellow forum member is rather fishy. I would also be concerned that if the owner was dumb enough to let a car be auctioned for unpaid parking tickets that he may have failed to have properlymaintained the car.I note that the dealer's original explanation for the one month delay was that he was "waiting for brakes". This did not make much sense when I was thinking of "maintenance type" items in the brake system, but now that I realize that it may be brake components that were vandalized or stipped while the car sat in a NYC impound yard for 6 months, the delay is more plausable. I can see where buying cars at police auctions and then reselling them to the publicwould be profitable forthe dealer.

AudiA6s,

I am afraid that the A6 you are looking at is a "base model". I sent Riverside an inquiry regarding the options in the car you identified. I received the response quoted below. I have deleted the salesman's direct number, buthave left the rest of thee-mail. As you can see the salesperson is calling it a "base vehicle".As a result, not only is the A6 an "impound yard" vehicle, it is also far short ofbeing an "all options" car. In fact, it is missing virtually every available option. If I were you I would not purchase the car. In addition,I certainly would not view it as an outstanding deal. Perhaps this is further evidence of the old saying "if it is too good to be true ...".

Kevin
