Headlights Different Colors?
HI,
I just purchased my first Audi. 2.7t 2001
My question is about the headlights-It has HID's but they are different colors, Im wondering which is factory-there is a bluish one and a pinkish one.
Or is it normal to be different colors when replaced?

I believe what you are experiencing is one of your bulbs is burning out. When an HID bulb slowly burns out, it changes colors. I read a long time ago about the colors in order then generally turn as they burn out. Do a google search if you really care. I could be wrong about this, but I am pretty sure that is what is happening, escpecially since I don't believe you can buy a pinkish hid bulb.

I agree with Jeffla...One of your bulbs might belosing its life. The color OEM is 4300K. Basically, pure white. You could be having an electric diode burning ot you may be losing the xenon charge. Are they the same color when you fire off the bulbs for the first time after sitting all night? They will look more blueish when you initially turn them on and then look almost pure white after they warm up for a bit. Are they different after they warm up? This is interesting. I had one go out on my Acura and I never noticed a change, it just one day blew out. It is really easy to pop the back of the headlight case and pull the bulbs to make sure they are the same kelvin/manufacturer. Should be Phillips.

I just bought my A6 turbo with the same problem... both same color as soon as you turn them on but after 15 secondsdriver hid is pure white color and thepassenger one gets this pinkish color with lower intensity. I was wondering if the previous owner replaced one of them with a different "k" rating... or maybe one of the ballasts (or one of the bulbs) is getting defective. Will buy a pair of 8000k d2s bulbs and see what happens..

RE: Headlights Different Colors?
My 2.7 bi-turbo 2004 A6 S-Line right headlight started glowing pinkish and then went out. The headlight would come on for a few seconds and then go out and the headlight out warning would come on. I changed the bulb and nothing changed. I changed the ballast and nothing changed. I pulled the fuse under the dash for the right headlight to check it. It was good. When I put the fusr back in the headlight came on and the warning went away. It worked for aq day and then the light went out and the warning came back. I pulled the fuse again and it worked for a day and went out again. ARGHHHH! Any suggestions?
