Sorry I couldn't help myself. I have to admit I know NOTHING about 2.7's. I think the wire could be suspect but what about the engine computer? Would the vag-com detect a bad computer? Do the 2.7's have ignition control modules? If they do have icm's are there two like the 2.8? If there are can you switch them and see if the problem moves to a different cylinder?

Sorry I am of no help. Just thought I would throw out some thoughts to placate my guilt for chanting clif! clif! clif! clif!

After looking in the Bentley manual I don't think the 2.7 has icm's after all.

When did the misfires all begin?

one more thing, are you sure it is getting adequate gas? You could switch injectors.

Default alright.....

The misfire started about 2 weeks ago. I put in all new spark plugs, all oem, all gapped at .028.---no change. Scanned at auto zone, got a misfire on cylinder 4. So I switched the coilpack back to cyl 5 and it followed. Bought a new coil pack, STI brand, 12 days later, misfire on cylinder 4 again. Heard bad things about sti packs, heard that they blow out on turbo motors, so today I got a brand new BERU, still misfiring

Default oh, forgot

before I put the BERU in today, I pulled out the old sti and started it, to see what would happen, and I got no change in the way it ran , even w/o the coil in it. Then I pulled the plug out and it was wet with fuel
It did run perfect though for the first 12 days Iafter I replaced the first coil pack...Thats what lead me to believe maybe the problem was the wires, and the coil pack was just a temp quick fix?
