Ok heres the deal. i went today to pick up my 2001 Audi A6 4.2L. When I get there and I'm messing with all the buttons and making sure everything works. I come across a problem with the windows. When I roll them down they go down smooth but to put them up it takes forever and then the windows kind of go screwy. They jump down like 4 inches. Its really random but it made me not buy the car today. Is this an easy problem to fix. I absolutely loved the car. But I was afraid it had an electrical problem. Everything else worked find. Just had problems with the windows. Plus it was only the front windows. The rear windows worked fine. Please helps guys and gals. I really want to buy this car I'm just afraid of an electrical problem. If you have and ideas or concerns on what it may be please please please tell me what you think. If its an easy fix. I'm going to buy the car. Thanks in advance

 

i will wanna think that the window motors are gone, but i am reluctant to do so cauz two of them at once raises questions, but other wise there is nothing left to rule out atleast from my point of view, use this prob to try nocking down $400 then get the car if you really like it as it sounds like you do

i agree with kimi, and of course ryuuoh's problem to the solution, buy the car, fix the guides, but at the same time get them to knock $400 or so off it bc of the problem

Where can I buy those guides? Do I have to get them from Audi or can I order them off a website.

 

if i were you, i will take a closser examination and maybe open it up and see. they may be just simply displaced or binding on some thing

 

get familiar with sites like blau parts, ecs tuning, etc. ECS has the window guides, and there is a repair writeup on audiworld.
