Default help identifying a part.

i need help identifying a part. the correct name might help, but a part number would be of greatest help.

it's a 2000 A6 2.7T 6spd

what i'm looking for is a cross member that bolts onto the frame ends circled in red, and supports the mount circled in red..

also, if anybody knows a part number for the timing belt cover in the yellow rectangle, it would be most appreciated.

Default Part Numbers

The part that bolts to the frame is called an impact absorber, part number is (427-807-272-1). It is attached to a reinforcement bar, part number (427-807-109B). The part number for the right timing belt cover is (078-109-145-AC). The other part circled in red in the lower portion of the photo is a Snub Mount, part number is (8D0-199-339-E). Hope this is what you were looking for??

If you can send me an email address, I can email you a PDF file with illustrations/photos for these and other OEM parts.

thanks!! i have been looking for the timing belt cover since february!! lol

but google didn't hit on the part number for the reinforcement bar nor the impact absorber. i am pretty sure the impact absorber is the curved piece the bumper cover mounts to, and the reinforcement bar would be what i need. anybody know where i can buy a reinforcement bar on demand?

The one part I beleive you are leaving out is the core support its the plastic piece that goes on first and has the mount on the bottom for the snub mount then the impact absorbers and the reinforcement bar bolts to those. unless the dealer is calling the core support the reinforcement bar?? havent looked it up at a dealer so I am not sure of their description.

the core support, if we're talking about the same thing, is the composite material that supports the radiator and a/c core, correct? if we're talking about the same thing, that's not what i'm looking for.. this is what the piece looks like

hopefully this clears up any confusion.

Default Part Name/Number

OK...Mr Wartman that picture is worth a thousand words. The last pic you posted is of the "Front Crossmember". On the 6cyl A6 both FWD and AWD Quattro the part number for your 2000 model is (4B0-805-851-E).

Be sure to check your Gmail address. I sent you the same PDF file I'm using to get these factory part numbers. Its very helpful and includes detailed diagrams and photos.

the front crossmember is what i thought it was called, but i see alot of references to the k-frame in the same item description.. the k-frame is the cradle under the motor between the front wheels, right?
