Default HELP! not sure whats wrong

So my 97 a6 for some reason is eating up all coolant. Their is no holes in the hoses or anything. i checked around the head gasket and didnt see any leaks. The car was sitting for a month before for a busted rack bolt. I went to work and noticed it had a puddle of coolant under it but no leaks. The car also steems a lil bit. but idk what wrong with it. Some one said a head gasket. but that would make it over heat right? the temp gauge is on normal. so thats why im thinking its not.

any thing else it could be?
If it is the head gasket what is my repair cost?

Where you find the steam is where the leak is.

for some reason it doesnt show when i have it running. i ran if for 30mins and let it cool for 30more and didnt see it.

The oil looks black no milk chocolete so thats why im thinking its not a head gasket issue.

I would check the aux coolant pump if you have one. Its under the intake manifold.

so i pin pointed the leak. It looks like its coming from 2 hoses near the dash im guessing the heater core. Anyone one know what it would cost to repalce the heater core? or maybe its just the hoses. I couldnt get a great look cause of the lack of room in there but i tightened clams and it was still trickling out.
