I have a 99 2.8 a6. I was thinking about going with a new exhaust. I want a deeper sound, trying to get as close to a v8 sound as i can. any suggestions? i also live in Jersey so I have to meet all their emissions regulations. thanks guys.

 

A cheap way to go is to buy a set of Remus mufflers, then having the exhaust shop remove the resonator. If you just change the mufflers then its gonna sound close to stock but just a little bit deeper. Removing the resonator will make the sound a little richer and a bit louder, but not to the point where it will annoy you or other drivers. If you like to annoy people like me just run straight downpipes all the way back through some glass packs
Of course you can buy a complete exhaust system from Militek, APR, Neuspeed etc. which will be a melow tone and not too loud.

Magnaflows is the cheapest but Remus is the deepest and most refined sounding Imo.
