I think I had to depend more on the instructions provided w/the garage door opener. I haven't used my homelink in a while because I am too lazy to program it. I'll get ambitious some day.

It's very easy....I just did mine. If you are having issues you can call Homelink at 8003553515

If the automated response doesnt work for you then a customer service rep can walk you thru it.

I played with it again. Number 1 opens both openers and 3 works. And yes, I did clear it...several times. I even made sure they were cleared by trying all the buttons. I give up...3 works, I'm fine with that.

ok, after a billion different procedures i've FINALLY gotten my homelink system programmed to my rolling code garage door. here's what i did, hopefully this will help someone:
(almost forgot, remember to turn the cars ignition on but don't start it before these steps)
1. held buttons 1 and 3 on homelink till light flashed quickly to clear unit.
2. first pressed down the homelink button that i wanted to program.
3. with the homelink button held down, hold the garage remote within a couple inches of the homelink pad.
4. press and hold the garage door remote button while still having the homelink button depressed.
5. continue to hold both buttons until the homelink system timed out (light turned off).
6. then release both buttons and press the homelink button you are trying to program, it should be a solid light when held.
7. now press the "learn" button on your garage door opener motor.
8. get back in the car and press the homelink button you just programmed, the garage door should react somehow.
9. now press the homelink botton again and your garage door should now go up/down.

that's all i had to do, but for whatever reason when following the instructions on the website, it wouldn't ever work. i'm very happy that i dont have to carry around that stupid garage door opener anymore.

Theese instructions are PERFECT!!!

I installed a new garage door opener 2 years ago and couldnt figure out how to get the Audi A6 synced.

Found this post and it worked step-by-step as described!

Thanks.

I too have been having trouble programming the Homelink, in my case in a 2007 A6. (Had no problems doing it in my X5 with the same remote.) Your procedure is significantly different from the one in my owners manual (and confirmed by Homelink), but I'll try anything at this point!

Just so I'm clear, in step 3 (quoted above) by the "Homelink pad" do you mean the area behind the bumper near the passenger side headlight (where the manual says the Homelink antenna is) or do you mean the Homelink control panel inside the car (where the operating/programming buttons are)?

Thanks.

I live in a house where a few cars access the garage. All have the same remote, if I use the "learn" button on the opener will that make the other remotes inactive or just add the homelink and not affect anyone else?
