Hidden Issues???
2002 A6 2.7T, 68K, Cold Weather Package
I'm only getting between 14-17mpg combined city and highway driving. I'm in sales so I drive in the city quite a bit, and on the highway quite a bit during a typical day driving between city to city.
The car seems to be running very, very smooth. But because of this lackluster gas mileage, could I possibly have some hidden issues that is causing this?
Very disappointing!! I traded my GMC Yukon Denali for this car because I wanted to save on gas. So far it's about the same, except for the smaller tank on the Audi, therefore less damage at the pump when I fill up.
Anyone have any thoughts? Or is this just what it is? Thanks.

RE: Hidden Issues???
City driving. The A6 weighs almost 2 tons and that takes a lot of gas to get it moving from a stop light. I only get 21 mpg in mine in almost exclusive highway driving. Of course, I don't drive slow.....

Your gas milage is about right...
My experience is 21 -23 on the highway and under 20 in the city, but I was able to increase my milage to 29-30 with a simple step.
I got a 98 VW Jetta 4cyl - 5 speed and letmy daughter use the A6 Avant. Since I travel 100 each day it saves me over $30 a week. There is an addedbenefit of my doing less miles each week because the guys at work are not as interested in going in the VW as they were in the Audi.
The other goodthing is that the V in VAGComstands for VW so I can use my code scanner if a problem arrises.
