Default How hard is this?

My shop is quoting me around 700 to replace the two front O2 sensors. How hard would this be for someone that has a pretty fair amount of mechanical knowledge. My buddy is also a VW/Audi tech. Could i do this in my garage? would I need a lift. i just think 700 is WAY to much ....Am I wrong?

Fairly easy to do....you can make do with just a jack and some jackstands on the ground. Buy the direct fit o2 sensors from Napa or advance or somewhere like that(doesnt matter really where you get them bc they will all be made by Bosch) not the universal fit.

OH my god it is easy as hell. If you don't have monster hands you should be all set. just spend a few dollars at the local auto parts store and get a 02 removal socket. It will speed things along quite a bit

$700!?! For that price, the job automatically becomes easy enough to do on your own

Yes, the up stream are the ones up top. By the flange. The lower ones(down stream) are the ones in front of the big cats. The engine computer uses the precats in the downpipes for measurements. I am gutting the main cats, since it will have no effect on the computer.
