how to replace driver seat control module
The driver's seat in my 2000 A6 stopped working. The dealer said it was the control module. I can buy a replacement used (rather than the $600 one from the dealer) but I'm not sure where it's located (in the door? under the seat?).
In either case if anyone can tell me how to access it so that I can replace it that would be appreciated.

It is located under the seat if you look under the front left corner of the seat you can just see one corner sticking down of the control module. if you put the seat all the way back and remove the front bolt you can lean the seat back enough to change out the module.

Thanks for the information on the location. Note that since the control module isn't working I can't "put the seat all the way back". Or is there some way to move it manually??
I'll see if I'm able to do it in the current position but the seat is basically stuck pretty far forward.
Thanks.

you should still be able to get to the bolt it is just a single bolt on the floor about the center of the seat you have to push the carpeting down to see it once you get it removed you can tilt the seat back. it is a little more difficult with the seat forward but still doable.
