Ignition Key Question

Ignition Key Question
Hi all,
I'm in need of a new ignition key for my wife's 95 A6Q. It's very worn and can be pulled out of the ignition while the vehicle is running. The Audi dealer was less than helpful (imagine that). Apparently, Audi went to a high security key beginning in 96 and there is little info on how to obtain a new one for 95 short of a special order item for a new one, 3-4 weeks "turnaround if it can be done". I do not have the original valet key.
Does anyone have any suggestions or previous experience with this issue?
Many thanks!

"This issue" is well discussed on the forum.
One key only is a recipy for disaster.
If the old key is worn down to a shape that can not be copied to cut the new key => the only option you have is to order a key from the dealers after the VIN,
Then you could buy a second key online -cut- reprogram the remote by yourself.
