Default Installed APR, now have issues

Hi
I got a local APR dealer to install a 4 stage APR chip, and now i have some issues.
When im in stock setting it runs fine.
When i go to 91 or 94 octain settings and i give 1/2 throttle the car feels like it hits the limiter at 4000rpm. If i mat it, it will rev then die, rev then die, up to 4000rpm.
Its hard to explain, its like if you pressed the gas, the let off fast, then eccelerated fast again, and you did this many times.
If i drive it really easy, it will to 7000 rpm with no problems.

I know off a couple sensor problems: (not sure if this would effect)

Driver side O2 sensor
ETG sensors.

The car is 2000 A6 2.7T 6spd. 100,000 miles

Why not just go back and have them fix it. If they installed it they should have made sure it works.

I would but they were the ones that told me about the couple sensors being out, and When I called them about the problem they say that the car is doing that to protect motor from exploding. I just don't see how a couple of sensers can effect it that much.

Can't help you with the sensors, but I'd be real uncomfortable running a 9 year old motor to 7000 rpm -- that's 600 over red line. I know I would not mistreat my A6, with 153k miles, that way and expect it to last.

Big stutter at 4k is almost always a torn throttle body boot, when you are boosting up to 15-16 psi it is evident., When in stock mode, with much less boost, you may never notice it. Do a boost leak test, or at least pull the TBB and check it out, I am betting that's your issue

Edit to previous, when you ease it up to 7k, you are not under full boost, when you stomp on it you are. Again, I am sure it is your throttle body boot. If it is, order a samco or 034 motorsport silicone replacement and never worry about it again

So i replaced the throttle body boot but it still cuts out. It cuts out mainly in 3rd gear or higher rpm's in 4th to 6th and the engine light blinks. If any has some other ideas, let me know?

Is it possible to be a plugged fuel filter?

Possible but not likely, what you are describing is a classic boost leak symptom. You need to head down to home depot and fab yourself a tester, then use soapy water and check all the hoses, injectors, vac lines for the leak. It is there, you just have to find it.

PS When going WOT you are not running in closed loop, you are open loop, so bad O2's shouldn't be the cause, bad EGT's are another story
