Default Just an idea?!

Hey,

I just had an idea and was willing to throw it out there to see it this would work. The dar intake has a hole in the bottom to help pull extra air in from the wheel well. I was thinking about running a pretty big hose from the bottom of the intake under the car to the front. I would then have an opening like the stock intake to pull in air. My theory is that you would avoid pulling in extra heat from the holes in the bottom and you would have 2 times the amount of air flow. Please let me know your thoughts if this could be done. I am just looking to take the intake further.

you know, i had that same idea lol, i didnt get the concept of just a big "open" hole, why not connect a piece of hose and run to the front, that way its the exact same as the stock, but with another air source, and no water/debris getting in, only thing that has stopped me from trying this theory is im still looking for where i can run the other hose lol

Yeah, good plan, just gotta find somwhere to run that hose so that it doesn't get in the way of anything. It would probably work best with a FMIC, that way you could run the air inlet pipe into the passenger side stock SMIC grill opening

idk about your cars, but, if i remove one of the side panel grilles on the lower front bumper, that could work, bc then its a shorter trip then the stock hose, and its all right there anyways, and u know it wont scrape the ground

Very true, but that grill is currently ducting into your intercooler, that would be robbing Peter to pay Paul

You just run a hose connected to the bottom of the intake down the wheel well through the belly pan to the front. I would buy the 2 connecting pieces for the stock intake and add a screen. I believe there shouldn't be any problems with pulling in water.. I have always thought about that with the stock intake how it doesn't pull in water.

i meant pulling in water from hitting a puddle, the stock one doesnt pull in water per say bc it is higher up, and it has a small drainage hole in the bottom of the filter housing, so what i would be doing is placing my 2nd hose at the bottom of the bumper where nothing but wires hang in my car(obviously i would put it above or below the hanging wires so not to interfear) and then run it back to the box just below the air filter and that way if any water got in, it would still dump out the drainage filter at the bottom, no harm no foul, no robbing peter to pay paul (i have no idea what u meant by that lol)...i can snap pics of my car so u guys see what i mean if that helps lemme know
