Default Just picked up a project '03 A6 2.7T, need some help

Hey all! I just picked up a 2003 A6 2.7T and it will be an ongoing project. I was hoping you guys could guide me in the right direction. The first thing is the car is in fail safe mode and the P/O disconnected the TCM. if I hook it up, the PRND21 is all lit up solid and will go in reverse but no forward drive. If it's disconnected it feels like it just starts out in 2nd gear and pulls fine but wont shift out of 2nd. The CEL and Traction control lights are also both on. the p/o said the car was running perfect and the battery died. He changed the battery and immedieately the fail safe came on. Any thoughts as to where i can start? Also, where is a good place to buy interior bits? I need a new headlight switch, cup holder and other numerous miscellaneous bits and pieces.

Thanks for any help! Cant wait to get the car going again.

Rob

I would start out by having the ECM and TCM scanned for stored codes so that you can diagnose and address the shifting issues along with the CEL and Traction control waring lights. Once all of that has been addressed and sorted its just a matter of enjoying the car and ensuring that all required maintenance is current and up to date.

Look on ebay for miscellaneous replacement bits like headlight switches, etc.
