Default which K03/K04 turbos to buy?

I have 03 allroad and with 90k miles on it and have bad oil leak from cam seal, timing cover dripping on trubo and making a mess. I decided to do a full service and dropped the engine with the transmission so I have it all sitting on the cart. I think this would be a good time to replace turbos.
Any advice on where to get them? Google search shows: turbochargerpros.com, gpopshop.com, raimotorsport.com, vastperformance.com.
Some of them are no name, some RP. With K04 a fueling kit is recommended - quite an expense (~$2k).
This gpopshop.com sounds good on their web site with hybrid 03/04 but the location looks like a barn on the Arkansas farm. Should I be concerned?

I think your on the right track with the vendors, all of the ones that you named are refutable. Even gpopshop can do good work. Personally I am going to install the tial s770 setup because my goal is over 600awhp. Vast and Jhmotorsport both have a package for the k04 that is good. these guys are totaly solid, if you are really about to head the k04 direction then give them a call and give them some business. I totaly support them,

now if you want to ever upgrade, now is the time sinvce you have the motor out

vast, jhm, ringer-racing, atpturbo

there are alot.... i would search s4 section here and over on audizine....

hmm, I'll have to research gpop. I think it was on another forum (aw maybe???) that they got the thumbs up. I definitely support vast though.

I asked gpop a question and it truned out that they don't have 2.7T engine turbos - only 1.8T. They still have A4/A6 under the picture which is misleading. There was no 1.8 A6 ever - right?

OK - so one down. Now JHM OEM K04 for $2200 pair, VAST K04 $2300 pair, turbochargerpros.com have K03 for $795 new and rebuild for $550.
I think I will go with JHM since they have good description and I have good feel about them after watching a video and ordering the transmission rebuild kit.
I snapped some pictures of my garage with the engine on the subframe with allroad lifted off of it at:

Nearly all of the shops are selling the RP turbos now because the real K04's are getting harder to get and cost is much higher.

It may be true for number of shops but while doing more research I got confirmation that www.autopartspoint.com sell original KKK / Borg Warner K03 for $800 and K04 for $1200.

Ouch, they are over charging you for the K04-15. I know of places that sell it for $995.

This thread is about RS4 K04 for 2.7T engines. K04-15 are for 1.8T VW, etc.

Sorry about that and yes the K04-15 is for the longitude 1.8t, K04-25/26 for the 2.7t.

Is that $1200 for a new 2.7t K04 or for a used one?
