Default key hard to get in and out of ignition

The key to my A6 is hard to get in and out of the ignition. Is this becuase the key itself is worn, or does this mean that the ignition would need to be replaced?

The ignition cylinder is probably bad, do you have any other keys to try out?

Try a little silicone spray on the key. Sometimes a little lube works wonders for a tight hole.

I just purchased the car and the previous owner only had one key.

And if I don't keep it lubed up real good it makes it very hard to get it in and out of the hole...I just don't want to have to keep lubing it everytime I want to insert it
