level 10 trans

RE: level 10 trans
a NJ company which can rebuild trannys.. more commonly for manuals but they can do autos aswell. Quick fix for the auto is obviously upgraded torque conveter... but I am just going for special tuned s4 6speed tranny with set gear ratios.

Yah... Not talking about performance within the parts at all, anddef would agree with you on that. The upgrade is to support the Vast TCU chip to run at its highest potential and with hopefully zero problems. For saying that the TCU adds "power" is false aswell.. I would like to see the racefile TCU(stage3+ a6) vs stock TCU(stage3+a6)

Most cars have reported a .3-.6 sec faster time in the 1/4 mile. with the Tip chip. GIAC even advertises a .3 sec drop in 1/4 mile. The V8 4.2's that I have seen get almost 1.3 sec faster in the 1/4 mile with ECU TCU and exhaust. I don't know how much you would attribute to the ECU and Exhaust but right there over a sec in the 1/4 mile. I would say a good amount is going to come from the trans

Ehhh I would say that the ECU and exhaust (mainly the ECU) would be the reason you lost a second in the 1/4th.. This is common through out chipped cars. I did see the numbers and hey they don't lie but I just don't think the stock TQ converter would support a quick transfer of 440-460HP... That is why I have stayed away from vast till the upgrade I would still like to see Stock Vs Giac Vs Vast... baskin is making me trigger happy though with wanting to just do it now

Im with you on the Tq converter. I don't think It would be long before the fins blew apart. I look at the Tq kinda like a stock clutch. You can hold big power on the stock clutch you just can't do it for long.
As far as the ECU AND TCU you have to remember the 4.2 cars are only getting 30hp from the ECU so I really think a good TCU program is making up the difference. But once again this is on the 4.2 There might be much more room for trans improvement. But as for exact times before and after. I don't have them for the trans alone. I might look to do that later this year tho.
I hear some people have loved there GIAC and some just think it was a waste of time. I think part of it is also the condition of the trans when you install the TCU chip.

mehh My TQ converter is in great shape but the GIAC program just didn't do that much... The first time i got in the car was a week or 2 after my car was in the shop and I really couldn't tell. Makes me scared that the vast TCU isn't that much better but obviously I have no clue since i got GIAC.
