Limp mode is usually a problem with the tranny

You would be able to tell if this was going on

codes have to be checked from the ECU/ECM to determine the fault, limp mode is when the system shuts down to prevent damage to any system a better name is "safe mode", limp mode can happen to a transmission and the injection in fact any system that run by a computer

RE: Limp Mode

there were codes they took them off and refilled the trans fluid, and said that should fix it, i'm taking it a diffrent place to have it looked at again... is it normal for the whole car to shake to the point where the headlights wobble, it doesnt seem right to me but they said it was fine

The A6 I am looking at, the owner says the trans was replaced recently. But now it goes in and out of limp mode and the RPMs go down and the speed goes to 35mph. What do you guys think would be causing it? Could it be fixed for less then a few hundred dollars?

RE: Limp Mode

the car will shake violently as it cant get the required information from the ECU because its shut down so it will idle real bad and that's normal in limp mode, without a code I can only guess the fault and its not worth guessing it could be many things
