LIMP Mode in "D" but not "S"
Hi all - just joined the forums. I bought an '06 4.2L A6 about 6 months (10,000 miles ago) and its been awesome...until now.
I had the car in drive and was accelerating pretty quickly when the car went into LIMP mode. Shut everything down and turned the car back on and now when the car goes from 5th to 6th, I get a sort of rubbing noise and the car goes into LIMP.
When I have the car in Sport mode or use the tiptronic, it drives fine. Any ideas as to what could be going on here?
The car has 70,000 miles on it and the only other change from the day I bought it seems to be that in "D" it seems to be moving through the gears faster (in 5th @ 40 mph).
I'd like to get some background before I bring it in to have it looked at. Not sure if I'm going to bring it to a dealer or try to find a good alternative. If anyone know of an alternative in the CT area, please let me know.
