Default Limp mode mystery

I'm really puzzled at the moment three days ago my A6 4.2 suddenly started going into limp mode and stayed that way for the whole weekend. I was ready to call it quits but this morning its running like nothing ever happened..for now my plan is to start with transmission fluid flush any of you guys had the similar experience or any suggestions about where to look??

Have you looked to see if there are any codes? Perhaps bad EGT sensor(s)?

Because of the long weekend I could only take it to advance auto parts. Their diagnostic came back with gear ratio error code. Car is at the local transmission shop lets see if they can find anything though I highly doubt it since they didn't really wanted to work on a Audi.

I don't blame them. Even us Audi enthusiasts don't want to work on Audis at times.
