Loss of Power
still love my audi - is A6 2.5tdi 2003 UK automatic.
It may be my imagination, but it seems to me that my audi is a bit sluggish - it seems to hesitate for a second before pulling away - seems a bit flat around 40 - 50 mph, and accelerating with 3 people and a boot full of luggage generated more noise than movement. Runs smoothly though , and cruises 80 - 90 without problem, quiet.
Took it to the nice people at Audi, who ran air mass tests and told me it was fine. But still, it just doesnt feel right
Is this just the way they are, or do you think there may be a problem ? Should I feel the turbo do its thing at all ?
any thoughts welcome...

it has about 30K miles on the clock - I had it from 4K miles.
I first noticed it after about 2 months I think - probably about the time when I got used to driving it, you know, so I suppose it has probably been like that since I had it.
The most noticable symptom is that pulling away from a standing start, it takes maybe half a second after accelerating before anything happens - it makes roundabouts a bit of a leap of faith.
thanks

So from a standing start, you press the accelarator, and nothing happens? Can you hear/feel the engine rev while the car stays still, does the tach needle respond, or is it just a pause before anything happens at all? Does your car smoke at all (blue, white, thick black etc)? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to picture what's happening.
Press the accelerator - nothing happens for a second, then car leaps forward. No sign of anything not working, like engine noise or smoke or misfiring- just nothing while it makes up its mind to go.
On the way home last night I checked exactly what happens
revounter idles at 750, accelerate reasonably hard from standing - revcounter immediately starts to move - when it gets to 1500 revs the car begins to move - the delay between pressing the accelerator and the car beginning to move is about half a scond
Its my first diesel - maybe its normal for diesels - I thought that the turbo might not be working , but the garage said you wouldnt notice the turbo kick in ( inwhich case whats it for ?)
thanks
