Default Low Oil Light

Not good...my wife just bought a Certified used 2003 A6 with 9,700 miles. The yellow oil light came on today, three days after purchase. When the light came on, she pulled over popped the hood (good girl!) and checked the oil by pulling out the stick. Light went off for about 15 miles then came back on again. The oil guage does not register any pressure, but the engine sounds OK. The dealer said to drive it over to check it out. So...any thoughts? Do I get it towed or drive it?
She is beside herself for spending the money...

I would have the car towed. Hopefully the engine isn't effected by oil sludge problems. Good thing you are under warranty.

How can a 2003 with only 9,700 miles have oil sludge?

So when she pulled over to check the oil level using the dipstick, what did she find? Was the dipstick completely dry? Did it show oil? Ideally you want to be on a level surface with the engine off. You have an oil pressure guage?! My model (99 A6) only came with an oil temp guage and coolant temp guage. If you have zero oil pressure, this is definitely not a good thing, and definitely presents a condition which would render the car undriveable. Have you tried topping off the oil and seeing if the oil pressure would register and oil light would come off? If so, then maybe you're leaking oil. Get it checked out. A car with such low mileage shouldn't be affected by such problems, but you never know with these Audi's.
