Default massive coolant leak

I have a 2000 audi a6 2.7t and it has a massive coolant leak coming from somewhere near the back ofthe motor but i cant pin point it. Its not the resevoir i checked that. and its spraying all up on the top side of the engine by the resevoir. Its dripping like a water fall from the backside of the engine. does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

heater core hoses?

try getting a light and and a mirror and see if you can get down in there and pinpoint where the leak is. there is wayyyy too much going on "near the back of the motor" to really be sure.

Ditto. I had my 2.8 heater core hose fail and had the same symptom.

I vote for auxiliary water pump, also. Generally they leak slowly rather than "massively".

+1 for ppgoal. When mine went it leaked from a nebulous "back of the engine" area.

FUNNY! Im on here for the same problem. I belive both of us are leaking from the AUX WATER-PUMP. I determined this by removing the cover over the DVs and shining a light through the right(drivers)side DV gap under the intake. The pump can be seen enveloped in coolant crust.....yeah me thinks its the aux pump.

UPDATE: I could see coolant leaking from either the aux-pump or the hose connected to it. In any case I purchased "HEAVY DUTY - BAR LEAKS" brand, its a plastic resin based sealer not aluminum. Normally adding coolant would instantly start seeping out of the fitting to the aux-pump. Upon completing the 20 min instructions, I no longer see the leaking. I was having to fill up every day.

Now this is only a temp fix, so I now ask. Where could I find a DIY on taking off the manifold to gain access to the aux-pump?
