Misfire 1997 A6 2.8
I bought a 97 A6 Quatro with the 2.8L a few months ago super cheap hoping I could fix it up some. The CEL light is on and I took it to Autozone to see what the code was and it read "Cylinder 2 misfire." The car runs very rough at Idle and I can smell some gas in the exhaust and the CEL light blinks at a higher speeds.
I started with the simple stuff, plugs, wires, fuel filter, and sprayed throttle body cleaner in the intake to clean that all up. But nothing has helped.
I then changed out the ignition coils and pulled all the injectors and tested them. All the injectors seemed to be working fine so I put them back in with new o-rings.
I am not sure what the next steps should be. I have read on some of the forums on here that Ignition Control Module might have something to do with the misfire.
Can anyone give me some ideas of the next steps I should take? I am pretty handy and can do most things myself. Is the ICM the next logical step to take or should I try something else?
Thanks for your help

IMHO I think you should do a compression check on yje engine before you dump a pile of cash on electricial parts. You are looking for similar numbers from each cylinder, if you find one to be extra low. that is the culprit of your miss.
