My A6
new here, i just got an 2001 audi a6 2.8 , quattro , with 53000 miles on it, overall i give it an 9.9 from 10 maximum of good condition. i check with the dealer and the car was service regular (oil change.. etc) until 40k in 2004 when was still in warranty. after i got it i replace oil , oil filter, fuel filter, i have for next week an k&n air filter, and spark plugs. i replace the fog bulbs with yellow ones 3500k , and i install hid 8000k in low beans, i tint the windows 35% in front and 20% rear and back, i attach some chrome to front and lower grille in pictures is not done , i still have the bottom to finish it, i restore the headlights (polish the lens) ,modify the fog light wires to be independent from headlights , future projects will be add extra light in the trunck ,rewire the rear fog lights , redirect the antenna to a better signal for remote, add extra cup holders , replace inside lights with something more cold-white light, clear corners , a new camera so i can get better pictures reading and search on forum help me a lot but any new ideas are welcome...

RE: My A6
Welcome to the forum. Just make sure you remove all the excess oil from the K&N (let it stand on newspaper for a few hours or overnight). Lots of problems reported with the MAF (mas air flow sensor) when K&N oil gets all over it.

Nice!
I JUST got a 2000 A6 2.7T quattro. It is also in 9.X out of 10 condition. Similiar dealer maint history, until after warranty, then it was a local shop for regular maint. Currently has 50,200 miles on it.
May I ask youa fewquestions?
1) I'm curious to know how much you paid for it
2) Would a K&N filteroffer noticeable performance/gas mileage on my 2.7T?
3) What product and methoddid you use to polish and clean up your headlighthousings?
Thanks,
CaptTrev

RE: My A6
thank you for advice ppgoal . i paid 10500 on it plus tax, but i look for cars for a month, and this one it was at a dealer, his story was that the car was trade in , i didn`t carfax the car so i don`t know too much about it , just what i got from audi dealer. i have same problem with this car , drinks a lot of gas, i know k&n can improve performance but don`t expect a miracle.
For headlights this is the link i follow , but i didn`t take my time when i did it and it was too cold, so i will repeat the procedure soon, to have them crystal.

an advice, take your time , don`t rush, start with 600 or 1000 sandpaper depends how bad is the headlight , and when u increse the number of the grit you increase the time too, like 600 for 2 minutes , go with 1000 for 6 minutes , 1500 10 minutes, so you have an ideea. it will cost you 20-50 dollars and a half day of fun
7 years old headlight , like new :

RE: My A6
Thanks for the info.
Your car looks great.
I think the headlight polishing will be one of the first things I do. I'll be sure to post before and after pics on here.
I'll think about getting a K&N soon too probabaly. I've always had them on my Jeeps.
Good luck with it.

From what I have read on here is that K&N does not really give our cars any significant difference. Just do a search on here and you can read all about it.

RE: My A6
I have the awe s-flo and the filter was very oil-y and I would accelerate and nothing would happen ... very limited power from like first to second gear and then I would take off... Clogged MAF ... use some electrode cleaner and DONT scrub it just let it sit because the MAF is very sensitive... rinse off re-install and you will be ok ...
