Default Name of fan on front of radiator? 01 2.7T

The fan mounted to the front of the radiator on my 01 A6 2.7T is making a god awful noise when I have the climate control on. Obviously it's related to the climate control system to a degree as the hideous noise turns on and off exactly as I turn the climate control on and off. Since it's one of the few things on this car that actually appears easy to replace myself, can anyone tell me exactly what that fan is called so I can order the part and replace it? Thanks all.

I was looking for three letters like AFC, AAH, ACK, etc...but VagCat under 2001 has 4B4 (from your VIN), so probably this is what you need to look for:

air guide / 2.4-2.8ltr. / 6 cylinder:
viscous fan
/ ALG,AGA,AJG, ALF,ACK,APS, ARJ,APZ,APR, AQD,AGE,AJK, AZA,AML,AMX
So the same fan fits all of those engines.
The only components shown with part numbers are:
- (1) 078121235G bracket for viscous coupling
- (6) 078121350A viscous coupling
- (12) 078121301E fan wheel

Also known as Auxiliary Cooling Fan.

Yes, they sound like a 747 during takeoff when they get older. They still function fine, so I just deal with the noise on mine. I've been told on this forum that it could require something as simple as a switch/relay, but I still don't want to deal with it until it gets above freezing.

Does anyone know where one could purchase this fan and bracket from? Audi wants $300 for the fan and $100 for the bracket.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If Vagcat sells those parts, I can't tell since their website won't open on an iPhone (Where I'm browsing from).

Thanks!

That fan is called V177. (A/C condenser fan)

One might check the operation of the radiator - electrical fan (V7) as well. That fan is commonly referred as Auxiliary fan assembly in spare part lists. Specific mode (application) l by the car and engine.
Lat letter from A-S then Audi changed the format.

There are threads about fans here that might be worthy to read.

The fan on the front of the engine is called "viscous fan".

(the naiming is the official Audi and Bentley naming)

Just so I'm clear. What is the official name for the fan pictured in photo #1 and #2? Is that the Viscous Fan?

You can see in #3 where the fan and the bracket sheared off. Where could both of these parts be purchased and does anyone have the part numbers for a 2004 A6 2.7T?

Thanks.

---This is a repost from another thread I've posted to as well. Just trying to keep continuity should someone stumble on this thread ---

Alright, I still don't have part numbers, but it looks like I need #11, "Upper Support" and #6, "Fan Assy" or should it be #1, "Fan and Motor 2.7L".

Does that check with everyone? Also, any idea where I could get these other than:

http://www.audiwholesaleparts.com/

I'll go with them if I can't find anyone else, but $213 and $65 still seems a little steep.

Thanks.

I'd suggest you fix the frame-support first => simple welding exercise.
(protect the condenser and other parts if done on the spot)

Is your radiator (V7) fan operational?
