Default Need Help Diagnosing Wiper Electrical '99 2.8

My wipers stopped working (in the rain) the other night.
The fuse was blown.
I replaced the fuse, and it blew too.
The multifunction wiper switch seemed fine - it still cycled through the LED display. Just no wipers. ( Darn, looking back, no washer either).
I ordered a new motor, popped it in, and darn - it still doesn't work.
With the new motor in, i tried some more fuse blowing. It seems that the fuse blows when the key is turned all the way on and the wiper switch goes on. Trying to activate the washer does not blow the fuse.

I'm guessing I need a new switch, but I've already gues$ed wrong once -
So. opinions are welcome.

Also. if it is the switch, how do I go about changing it - any online references ? Looking for help...

...Mike

I would bet on it being the switch. You need to remove the steering column to access it. I have done my 02 but not a 99.I have a how to remove a steering wheel in the DIY section. I'm not sure if any of it would apply to a 99 but read it anyway. You should invest in a bentley manual at ecstuning.com.

Thanks - I just ordered the manual through ecs - can't wait for it to show up ( I've been wanting one anyway). I'm kinda new here, can you pop in a link to your diy, or a menu path. Thanks... ...Mike
