Default Need help on tire size

Hi Folks,

Im tire shopping for my 2001 A6 2.7T.

My current tires are the contis 215 / 50 HR 16 and would like to get better rubber using the same wheels.
I am looking at some tires, and a few models only come in 225 width. I am wondering, will 225s fit on the current wheel and will the rub anywhere on the car?
Also what is the correct size I should look for ? 225 / 50 VR 16 sound ok?

Many thanks!

I have seen several A6s (new at dealer and on the street)with 235/45 16 tires. There are only a few manufacturers of this size.

Thanks for the replies.
BTW Im going to be using the tires on the same stock 16inch rims, replacing the 205s that came standard.
Thinking of Pirellli P Zero Nero M+S
