Need parts, please help - where to get...
I was informed today that I will be needing brake pads in all four corners as well as a set of front rotors.
I have a 2001 A6 2.7T and I like the brakes that came with the car, but am thinking of something with a little more bite - the way I drive it even the HP2s are barely enough. What can I do to make my brakes a little more aggressive while not braking the bank and not having to worry about wearing out the pads too fast?
I originally thought to get cross-drilled rotors (they look good and provide better stopping power) but was told that they tend to wear out the pads a lot faster than regular rotors. Soas of now, I am looking at a set of aftermarket rotors and the jury is still out on the pads... a friend of mine told me to get ONLY original pads from the dealer, because others tend to make noise (which is not all that believable, but whatever). I was ideally hoping to get some pads that will provide a slightly higher performance... can anybody suggest good pads for me?
PS yes, I know I just asked "can anybody suggest good pads for me?" LMAO

any recommendations on the brands for the brake lines? I was actually considering this.
btw, I got me some 411 on how to get it done too. My buddy at a nearby Audi dealer told me the following: aftermarket rotors, Audi pads. Apparently, anything other than Audi pads make noise.

I have always loved my PBR Ultra Ceramic pads. I have used them on my Audi, my old Volvo and our BMW and anybody that drives the cars can not believe how fast the cars stops. They dust a little less then the oem pads, but they are dusty. I have never upgraded the brake lines, so have no opinion on that. I used the use Metal Masters until I tried the Ultra Ceramics. They can be hard to find (the PBR Ultra Ceramics that is), you can find the rear pads anywhere, but I know I spent about a week searching for the front pads and I don't remember where I got the front ones. I wasn't sure if you could mix and match brands of pads.
Just my 2cents.
