New Audi owner. 1998 A6 Avant... Red headed stepchild?
Hello! New here. Recently purchased a 1998 A6 Quattro Wagon. 2.8L. 140,000 miles. I have searched a ton and don't see a lot that's wagon specific. I'm just trying to get a bearing on what from the wagon crosses over to the standard A6. I'd really just like to basically clean it up, lower it, throw some different wheels on it and get the motor breathing a bit better. I an totally new to Audi/European cars.
I know that the 98 wagon appears to have kept the 97 body style, but I just want to verify what bumpers/sideskirts I may be able to throw on it to get a better look out of it.
Also Coilovers and control arms. I'm from a Nissan background and am used to parts bin engineering, lol. As far as the Audi suspensions go, the wagon I have is a 94-98 body style. Any info on what suspension may cross over from the sedans, or is it wagon specific? Any google searches are coming up inconsistent, as I haven't found many wagons of this era really properly lowered, etc...
The only issues I've had out of the car are the transmission staying in 2nd gear at times, and generally just shifting hard. I have read a bit on the problems isth the torque converters, so I am looking forward to working on that!
If anyone has any insight/advice on issues or resouces for the wagon, please let me know! Thank you for your time.
