New Audi owner
I recently bought a 2006 Audi A6 with a 3.2 liter motor. I was told that there was some issue with the tranny that occasionally required depressing the override button beneath the ashtray behind the shifter. I test drove for about 30 miles and it ran perfect. First thing I did was change the oil. I noticed the plug had never been removed so I guess it was sucked out rather than drained. anyway while I was under there I noticed the two plugs in the transmission pan and it was obvious they had been removed. The car had 74,000 miles at this point. Since then there have been times where I have to depress that button and it won't go in forward or reverse. Turn the car off and back on the press the switch and put it in gear again and this time it's slowly engaged and it drove the rest of the day without any problems.and then there are days where it starts up shifts into gear and drives perfectly the whole day 10 or 12 stops. I know better than to Rev the engine to get it to engage. There are other times when I go to stop and it wants to keep going. I usually end up having to put it into neutral. These problems don't seem to be getting gradually worse but they are consistent. Is there a way I can fix this without costing me a fortune and if I do will it stay fixed?
