Default new audi owner with a bluetooth ques...

Hello!

New member... just bought my first Audi and it is awesome... i will own nothing but an Audi from now on lol!

i'm confused on the bluetooth adapter in my vehicle though... i purchased the car used ('06 a6 4.2) and there is an adapter plate in the arm rest... but i'm not sure if the previous owner removed the bluetooth device that connected to the adapter plate.. or i need to purchase a new one to fit my phone (blackberry 8830)...

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

chris

Someone else helped me out with my same dilemma. You should be able to go into the phone setup screen on the MMI. Put your BB into bluetooth "pairing" mode. The MMI should find it (it did my iphone). The security code was 1234.

Good luck!

You need to have the dealer update the MMI software. The original MMI software had some bugs, one of which was the failure for the phonebook to automatically transfer. Once the MMI software is updated the transfer takes place automatically.

I am having the same problem. Went to the Audi dealer and they acted like it was a big deal to do this and could be a huge charge. They also acted like they have never heard this MMI upgrade before. I told them I got this information from the internet and they asked me to find out

What version of MMI software is the forum saying the bugs are fixed in?

Also - to compare I would like to know what version of MMI software I currently have. I can't seem to figure that out. Can someone help me with both questions. Appreciate the help as I want to take the A6 back in to get this fixed. Was this free for others to get done?

Edited to provide details:

2005 Audi A6 3.2 Q
Phone I am trying to connect is Blackberry Curve 8330 (they said some phone are not compatible and I should look on the compatability list???)

UPDATE - Audi just stated the upgrade to go from version 3360 to version 4610 (latest) would be $230.

They also stated there is a potential for the bluetooth module to go bad during the upgrade. If that happened it would be another $650 to fix that.

1) Is it normal to pay for the MMI update?
2) Anyone hear of the bluetooth module failing during an upgrade?

Yes and Yes.

Most glitches were fixed by 33.6.
